Abstract

WD 1145+017 is a white dwarf that has an actively disintegrating object in orbit and also uniquely displays circumstellar gas absorption. We present a preliminary analysis of the circumstellar absorption features present in the ultraviolet and optical spectra of WD 1145+017 using an eccentric precessing gas disk model similar to Cauley et al. (2018) who tried to reproduce the periodic changes in the velocity shift for 3 circumstellar lines. Our goal is be able to perform a similar analysis, but for the whole ultraviolet and optical spectra using a full radiative transfer model which considers both dynamical and chemical properties.
