The purpose of this research was to study the rapidly increasing childhood obesity rate in America. Since 2012, the new requirements of the National School Lunch Program came into effect. This program has been backed by the White House as they believe that this is one of the solutions of solving the childhood obesity pandemic. The new requirements included changes to the sodium count, calorie count, fruit and vegetable servings and other specific changes. My goal was to determine if the NSLP has been beneficial in decreasing or slowing down the rate of childhood obesity. By looking at other contributing factors such as race, poverty, and income, I was able to compare them to the obesity rate and recognize other possible issues.en
