Changuita Perla : creating narrative in dance choreography for a young audience

This thesis document examines selected areas of the process of conceiving, choreographing and directing an original theatrical production at the University of Texas at Austin. The target audience of the evening-length dance piece, Changuita Perla, was fifth and sixthgrade students. The project represented a collaboration of artists (in music, scene design, visual art, lighting design, costume design) from New York and from the Department of Theatre and Dance.
