The filmmakers of the social documentaries, Born into Brothels, Troop 1500, and Desire offer varying amounts of agency to their girl subjects. All three also seek to raise awareness about certain issues of girlhood. This thesis will explore the ways in which the girls' agency allows for a diversity of representations of girlhood.en_US
