Abstract

Chemical flooding has been known as the effective method for the tertiary oil recovery. However, they associate with high risks and expensive operating cost. The method of experimental design and response surface, which has been recognized as an effective method for optimization, was introduced in this study with an aim to determine solutions to optimize the chemical flooding process. A definition of optimization in this study means either maximizing NPV or cumulative oil recovery. Ultimately, the concept of experimental design and response surface provides useful guidance and solutions to optimize the chemical flooding process. It is also expected that the results of this study will be used as guidance for future petroleum engineering optimization studies.
