Abstract
The problem of determining the pressure distribution on the surface of a two-dimensional airfoil in steady, incompressible, potential flow is considered. The airfoil is replaced by a closed vortex sheet which automatically satisfies Laplace's equation and the boundary condition at infinity. Then, the remaining boundary conditions are used to derive an integral-differential equation and boundary condition for the vortex strength distribution. This equation is solved by a finite-element procedure in which the exact airfoil geometry is used. Solutions are obtained for airfoils with both finite and cusped trailing edge angles
