Abstract
Batch pH edge sorption studies were conducted with cobalt, strontium and lead onto quartz. The cations were selected as sorbates for their diverse characteristics and the experiments were performed with three different electrolytes at two different concentrations each. Results of the experiments show different sorption effects associated with the varying conditions, including classical outer-sphere ionic strength effects, ionic strength effects due to phyllosilicate formation and ionic strength effects with a specific anion due to aqueous complexation.
