Bennett lets Palaima know he has now arrived in Athens to begin the year of his Professorship at the American School of Classical Studies. He begins his trip with computer problems, related here, concerning the hardware (its difficulty of use for someone wearing bifocals), printer, and sign in sheet. This is the first letter of a series he sends while in Greece on his Andrew W. Mellon fellowship.
