Combined transportation and utility construction : assessment of CTUC strategy on recent projects

With the ever increasing demand for a streamlined network of highways, TxDOT is making substantial efforts to reduce project delivery times and their associated costs to the traveling public. This research endeavor assesses the effectiveness of combining utility relocation with highway construction. This approach is referred to as Combined Transportation and Utility Construction (CTUC). Information obtained from various TxDOT Districts and individuals sheds light on how actual recent applications of CTUC have affected project performance. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness, issues, and concerns of projects completed utilizing CTUC.
