By examining the writing and lives of Rebecca West, Jamaica Kincaid, and Anne Sexton and following the groundbreaking work by Paul B. Preciado and Gayatri Spivak, this paper suggests countergazing might present an opportunity for dissident subjectivities to survive outside of the patriarchal norms created by psychoanalysis.
