Item “Open-Minded Couple Seeking a Third”: Queer Women in the Digital Age(2018) Braaten, Elizabeth; Weinreb, AmyThe decline of the lesbian bar and the dawn of the digital age, combined with the lack of a sufficient digital hook-up space for queer women, leaves a gaping hole in the potential for lesbian visibility and sociability. In conceptualizing lesbian public space, I identify social barriers that both drive this negative phenomenon of invisibility and prevent the development of a comfortable digital space for queer women.Item A Social Survey of Austin(University of Texas at Austin, Texas, 1913-04-01) Hamilton, Willliam B.Item A Social Survey of Austin(University of Texas at Austin, 1913-04-01) Hamilton, William B.Item A Survey of the Los Angeles Heights Public School s(University of Texas at Austin, 1930-12-22) University of Texas at AustinItem The Contention of Gender Affirmative Care(2023-11) Neely, ThomasThis thesis explores the nature of nonmedical, social aspects of gender affirming care (GAC) and social transitioning for transgender minors. It describes how the results of the two processes have lead to favorable psychological results, and covers the opposition against the processes for minors. This thesis finds that arguments against GAC and social transitioning for minors, as well as actions taken to impede the processes, are based on fallacious data, harmful assumptions, and ultimately result in the deterioration of mental health for transgender minors. It concludes that nonmedical GAC and social transition for transgender minors should be permissible, on the basis that opposition is false and harmful, and on the basis that allowing the processes to take place demonstrates exclusively benefits.
