Item Behavior driven development kick-start(2021-12-05) Pate, Robert Wayne, II; Julien, Christine, D. Sc.; Chung, JeffSoftware testing has been shown to decrease software construction and maintenance costs, however it is often overlooked or at best delayed due to time constraints and cost. Web projects face additional difficulties when they want to automate testing against the browser. By lowering the time and effort of setup, more web projects will adopt automated testing sooner and see the associated cost reductions. In order to kick-start usage, this report reviews five behavior driven development frameworks and builds out a kick-start project using one of them. The project uses Cucumber as the framework, includes web browser automation by integrating Selenium, and provides working examples of browser tests. In practice, this kick-start project reduces the research and setup time for automated web testing from multiple days to less than half a day.
