Dan discusses growing in his theological beliefs and finally being a pastor at the Friends Congregational Church in College Station, Texas. Now, Dan and his community must learn how to stay connected, practice self-care, and worship during a pandemic. Joanna left a career in marketing and was interested in process theology, eventually running a liberal church in Cedar Park, an area in Austin that is slowly becoming more racially diverse. Joanna has dealt with a fair share of hardships, like her daughter surviving cancer as well as being a woman minister, but all that has shaped her religious views in a positive way. Joanna also speaks to the hardships of virtual church service, which luckily, she’s accustomed to.Item Kristin Galle Interview(2020-10-19) Institute for Diversity & Civic LifeThis interview is with Kristin Galle, a professional interim minister who is ordained with the United Church of Christ. Kristin’s ambition is to help church leadership through transition periods and times of chaos. Kristin also discusses the importance of building community while staying safe during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kristin attended Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary and speaks fondly of that experience.Item Lee Ann Bryce Interview(2020-11-18) Institute for Diversity & Civic Life; Department of Religious StudiesThis interview is with Lee Ann Bryce, who speaks to the liberating experience of coming out as lesbian and getting to live freely. Lee Ann attended seminary at Iliff School of Theology and became the youth director in an Episcopal Church in Boulder, Colorado before Lee Ann was effectively fired due to her sexual orientation. Lee Ann is known for preaching progressive theology and ensuring that safe spaces exist for people from all walks of life. Currently the Pastor at UCC in Fort Worth, Lee Ann is navigating being a religious leader during COVID, hosting most meetings through Zoom, and hoping that Zoom communications will continue after the pandemic.
