Item Field-Scale Simulation of Chateaurenard Polymer Pilot(1992-05) Takagi, Sunao; Pope, Gary A.; Sepehrnoori, KamyA three-dimensional compositional chemical flooding simulator (UTCHEM) was used for the study of a polymer flood pilot in the Chateaurenard field near Paris, France. This is the first published work for polymer flooding in which, using a three-dimensional compositional simulator with stochastic permeability, not only the oil recovery but also the water cut and polymer concentration history for four wells have been successfully matched with the field results. Sensitivities to various input parameters are studied and are used to select appropriate ones for the final match. Fine-mesh simulations in three dimensions were conducted to study miscible viscous fingering and channeling in the displacement of a polymer slug by chase water using stochastic permeability distributions. The characteristics of unstable displacements are discussed.
