We are not chronic kickers. There are times when we can see “ th e silver lining in the cloud.” Even in this instance we wish to commend heartily the success of the basketball team. Hut it does strik e us as sig nificant t h a t out of a to ta l ex penditure of $458.65, $28.05 was spent in advertising—and yet not a penny of th is advertising was expended on th e collge pa per. We don’t know who got the money, or w hat th e nature of th e ad vertising w as; but this much we do know— not a penny of it was given to your daily pa per, although th a t same paper gave unlimited free space to any and all kinds of press reports from the Athletic Director. Of course, you know’, The Daily Texan will m anage to live w ithout any ad v ertisin g from th e Athletic Council. We have thrived w ithout it, and w’e don’t feel apprehensive even now'. You paid your money to see th e football game th e y paid your money to suppor a town p a p e r; and they let your paper go hang.
