Dear Mr. President, 
Thank you for your letter of 6 August 1964 as well as for the enclosed Moon-surface pictures successfully taken by the Space Vehicle Ranger VII on 31 July 1964, which were of great interest to me. I congratulate you to this success. I believe that the utilization of science for peaceful pur­poses is an urgent task of our times and that also the peaceful exploration of outer space will yield benefitial results useful for all the mankind.
