Neither faltered; onward, up ward they strove to attain the goal. At last there came suc cess; but not satisfaction. Now’ in the future there is the idea of perfecting Miss Keller’s speech. And in this attem pt she will have as her guide the same faithful companion w’ho has labored so in the past. Truly, it is impos sible to determine which is the greater of the twTo. They must go hand the two in hand as greatest women of the age. CLEAN-UP DAY. The Governor has designated today as Clean-up Day. Every one is supposed to clean up his premises. However, to the stu dent this won’t very well apply as the premises of the average student are nil. But, there is a way left for a Clean-up Day, and some how’ or other we kinda take kindly to the idea. Why not have a mental Clean up Day. Get down those books you have way back there in your head and glance over the ac counts. Then pull out the scales and set to work to see how near those accounts come to balanc ing. F irst thing let’s look at the Petty (’ash account. We sure do find a lot of little insignificant things listed there. Putting them all together they amount up to a heap. But aren’t they little and insignificant? Such mean little items ought not to be on a good set of books, so let’s wipe ’em off. Next comes w hat’s owing to you. Those kind of ac counts stand out very prominent at first. But on examination they sure do begin to diminish Finally we are able to reach an amount th at we think is ju st Ju st discount it about ninety- nine per cent and it will be near ly accurate. The final task is to find out what you owe. That sure is some job. Why you haven’t entered up hardly any of the items; and the more you think the more you iind you haven’t entered. Finally we de cide to lump the whole; perhaps, the correct amount would be ob tained if it was multiplied sev eral hundred times. Then heave the whole bunch in the scales. Consternation. Our end of those scales started toward the heav ens, while the other end is rest ing peacefully on earth. Such a cleanup ought to be indulged in regularly, and maybe some of these days one would be pre pared for the “final clean-up.” MRS. MACY.
