Abstract

Description

The purpose of this study of special education for exceptional children in Texas is to determine the status and needs and then formulate a simple, workable plan whereby any school having handicapped children might organize for and have definite directions for providing the necessary special education. ... The problems to be attempted in this study are to determine by a state-wide survey the number, type, and location of such children, to ascertain the current services available to the handicapped in Texas, to determine the college training and salaries of the special teachers assigned to the work, to determine an adequate, wholesome foundation for special education, to formulate a plan for organizing and administering the program, and to prepare specific suggestions for classroom help for such handicapped children
