Abstract
Description
This report on the arts in Texas was produced as part of a policy research project conducted at the LBJ School in the academic year 1975-76. The study examines some of the substantive issues which have arisen since the creation of the National Endowment for the Arts in 1965, with particular attention to the funding and functioning of local arts councils in Texas. The project, supported by a grant from the Lyndon B. Johnson Foundation, makes policy recommendations to the Texas Commission on the Arts and Humanities and the National Endowment for the Arts regarding federal funding criteria, organizational restructuring, and increased local participation in arts programs.
