We at the Environmental Science Institute are saddened by the passing of Dr. Sally Ride. Her pioneering career as an astronaut is well known to all, but she was also a pioneer in science education. Her passion for getting students interested in science was boundless. Dr. Ride was a great friend to ESI and she delivered a most memorable Hot Science – Cool Talks lecture on October 30, 2009, making a profound impression on many of us that day (see photos below). Through Sally Ride Science (www.sallyridescience.com) her passion will live on. -- What is the Lecture About? -- Given by Dr. Sally Ride NASA Astronaut (former), President & CEO, Sally Ride Science On June 18, 1983, aboard the Orbiter Challenger, Sally Ride became the first American woman to fly in space. Share an evening with Dr. Ride as she discusses the challenges of space, our changing planet, and science education in the U.S.
