The present study was undertaken in an attempt to discover the true relationship between the quality of scholarship in high school and in college, and to determine the extent to which the efficiency of instruction in a particular high school can be measured by the college performance of its graduates. The study was limited, therefore, to a comparison of the scholastic records of the same students in high school and in college. The primary purpose was to utilize these records in their supposedly most reliable form, and to determine the standard value of the high school record in predicting the college record. In addition to finding this general college expectancy, based upon the high school record, a second purpose was to improve this general prediction by means of a correction for each high school studied which, when applied to the general expectancy, would give the most probable college achievement for graduates of a particular high school
