The main purpose of this study is to present data showing the status of certain aspects of the teacher-training programs of the state teachers colleges in Texas during the past decade and a half. Particular attention, in relation to this main purpose, will be given to: (1) curricula, (2) student distribution, and (3) teaching personnel. An effort will be made to indicate significant changes which have taken place during the period mentioned along with some suggested causes which appear to be fundamental in bringing about these changes. Attention also will be given to the lack of change in certain instances and to other aspects of the program which seem to have a bearing upon the success of these institutions in meeting the need for teacher preparation during the lapse of this period of time
