A thesis that examines the influence of non-canonical icons on the process of selecting and canonizing saints within the Romanian Orthodox Church and how they may serve as a communication tool between the Orthodox faithful and the hierarchy. This communication link is very important in showing if the effect of the holiness of the proposed person's life upon the faithful and the Church is sufficient to merit sainthood.
