A history of the state school system in Texas, 1876-1884

In the reorganization of the State school system in Texas under the Constitution of 1876, the essential features of the radical school system were eliminated. The Community School System was adopted and continued in operation until displaced by the District System which was authorized by a constitutional amendment in 1883. This study is an historical investigation limited to the period 1876-1884 and deals only with problems and issues purely educational or related to education in some vital way
