Abstract
The United States’ military withdrawal that was completed on August 30, 2021 has worsened the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. Thousands of Afghan refugees have arrived in Pakistan since the withdrawal, especially in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. However, there is a lack of information on the effect of the withdrawal on the health status of Afghan refugees in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
This study investigates the impact of the withdrawal on Afghan refugee health by analyzing updated health data obtained from the government of Pakistan. First, I discuss refugee health generally and Afghan refugee health specifically before discussing my study. Second, I detail the methodology of the study. Third, I analyze the health data. Finally, I discuss my results.
