dc.description.abstract316L stainless steel and Inconel 718 alloy functionally graded materials were fabricated by selective laser melting with a novel approach which combined powder-bed with powder-feed pattern. Two different scanning strategies have been used to form the steel/Ni FGMs. The interfacial characteristics were analyzed by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive spectroscopy. Quantitative evidence of good bonding at the interface was obtained from the tensile and shear tests of the steel/Ni FGMs.en_US
