Abstract
Representations of Violence in Latin America is an interdisciplinary symposium gathering scholars from institutions in Latin America and the U.S. whose work deals with discourses and various representations of contemporary violence. We will have the opportunity to discuss definitions and knowledge on violence that have been produced in the humanities and social sciences. The objective is to establish a dialogue between different approaches and geographical areas from which academicians, artists, journalists, filmmakers, lawyers, and politicians attempt to understand the complexity of the social, political, and cultural implications of violence in Latin American countries.
