Abstract
It has been demonstrated that, in a coaxial induction accelerator, multiturn armatures offer significant advantages over monolithic solid sleeves. The overall armature temperature rise can be reduced by over an order of magnitude, and efficiency can be increased from around 15% to over 40%. Solid armature support structures appear to offer more promise than annular designs, since they can tolerate 41% more magnetic field. However, solid structures require shorting the armature leads to each other on the armature surface, rather than on the centerline
