By virtue of the fact that a considerable amount of objective information concerning the background of each freshman applicant is made available to the admission officials of the University prior to the enrollment of the student, the possibility seemed to exist that this information might possess qualities of a predictive or prognostic value in the selection and/or placement of lower-half freshmen in this institution. It was the purpose of the present investigation to attempt to discover what predictive qualities, if any, are inherent in this pre-enrollment information
