Abstract

Experimental data on a 2 MW ARCP inverter built and tested at The University of Texas at Austin Center for Electromechanics are presented focusing in particular on the effect of the load on the commutation process. An analytical description is also presented of the commutation process in an ARCP inverter followed by a correlation between the theoretical and experimental results and concluding with some practical considerations for the proper functioning of a converter of this type.
