Abstract

Among the U.S. states, Texas has been at the forefront of globalization, which is characterized by the international flow not only of goods and services but also human and financial capital. A key factor in these high marks for globalization has been expanding trade, which has made Texas the top exporting state. Compared with the nation, Texas exports a larger share of its output. Through state-level export data, the welfare of Texas and other states in a more open world economy can be observed.
