Environmental studies dealing with the development of geopressured geothermal resources in the Texas Coastal Zone indicate that the major impacts on the ecosystem are likely to result from surface disposal or accidental release of geothermal fluids, from surface subsidence induced by fluid withdrawal, and from habitat loss resulting from the construction of the power plant and well field. In view of this, the following site specific and general environmental studies are recommended. Some of these studies are already underway in Texas.
