Review and analysis of the A.C. Saunders site, 41AN19, Anderson County, Texas

The A.C. Saunders Site, 41AN19, Anderson County, Texas contains Late Prehistoric Caddoan Features that may be the remains of a special function site such as a perpetual fire temple. In addition to a brief examination of ethnographic descriptions of special sites amongst the Caddo, the previous investigations, features, and artifacts of the Saunders Site will be reviewed and analyzed. The site data is then compared to other archeological remains of the central East Texas region, and a tentative seriation of Late Caddo sites is presented.
