There are three major sections in this thesis. The first is my process in developing the script portion of my project. This includes the research I completed concerning my initial idea of performing a portion of writing by Jane Austen, the narrowing of my scope to one of her earliest short stories, and finally the ways I managed to adapt this story for a twenty-minute solo performance. The second section deals with my process as a performer of this script: I examine challenges I encountered, as well as the skills and techniques I applied in making the play thrive in performance. The last section is a short assessment of my performance experience in the University Co-op Cohen New Works Festival at The University of Texas at Austin on April 10, 2007.en_US
