"The three sisters" : adapting a short story by Jane Austen for solo performance
MetadataShow full item record
There are three major sections in this thesis. The first is my process in developing the script portion of my project. This includes the research I completed concerning my initial idea of performing a portion of writing by Jane Austen, the narrowing of my scope to one of her earliest short stories, and finally the ways I managed to adapt this story for a twenty-minute solo performance. The second section deals with my process as a performer of this script: I examine challenges I encountered, as well as the skills and techniques I applied in making the play thrive in performance. The last section is a short assessment of my performance experience in the University Co-op Cohen New Works Festival at The University of Texas at Austin on April 10, 2007.
