Impressive scientific advances have been made in every field of endeavor. But nowhere seemingly is there a greater challenge to the creativity and ingenuity of man than that which personality measurement presents. When I was first introduced to existing knowledge in the field of psychological tests and measurement while doing undergraduate work at the University of Houston, the potential contribution which could be made to education, business and industry captured my imagination and has absorbed much of my thought and effort since. This paper is an outgrowth of that interest. It is written in the hope that it will add something to present procedures and stimulate fresh approaches to personality measurement.
