Implementing Writing Across the Curriculum Principles Into Departmental Writing Centers
MetadataShow full item record
While working toward my master’s degree in English at Northern Arizona University (NAU), I had the opportunity to tutor in the university’s Writing Center. Like many universities, NAU has a writing center housed in the English department, staffed by English undergraduate and graduate students. While the tutors who work at these centers may be English majors, the students and teachers who use the center’s services come from many disciplines across campus. Unfortunately, especially in such uncertain economic times, writing centers may not have enough money to hire graduate students or professionals in other disciplines. With limited budgets, what can be done to ensure that students and teachers from across the curriculum receive the help they need?
