Abstract
Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) is an emerging material technology that exhibits a combination of high compressive strength, high tensile strength, high toughness and ductility, and improved durability when compared to normal concrete. These characteristics lead to applications in bridge structures across the various department of transportations in the country. The objective of this research was to characterize proprietary and non-proprietary UHPC mixtures in the laboratory, with the ultimate goal aimed at implementing UHPC in bridge applications in Texas, particularly for field-cast connections and closure pours.
