Enhancement of ion kinetic energy from argon clusters irradiated by ultra-high intense laser pulses

The objective of this thesis is based on the desire to gain further understanding of the interaction of ultra intense short laser pulses with Argon clusters. The experimental work presented here give evidence for an enhanced ion kinetic energy from the Argon clusters as they are irradiated by a sequence of two femtosecond laser pulses with a time delay. The mean ion kinetic energy enhancement and the position in time of this enhancement can be explained considering different cluster size regimes interacting with the ultra high intense laser pulses.
