Description
In 1861, Fort Bend planter Benjamin Franklin Terry raised a cavalry regiment to go fight in the Civil War. This was the 8th Texas Cavalry, better known as Terry's Texas Rangers. Three of the regiments privates were from Hill's Prairie, near Bastrop: the brothers John and Robert Hill, and their cousin Dionysius Oliver. These are their letters.-- Adapted from publication description.
