A Compulsator-Driven Rapid Fire Railgun System
MetadataShow full item record
A compensated pulsed alternator (compulsator) is an attractive alternative to the homopolar-inductor switch system as a power source for a rapid-fire railgun. The design of the compulsator and a few other components of the system are presented. Results of the tests on various components of the system are also discussed. The system is designed to accelerate 80-g projectiles to 2 to 3 km/s at 60 Hz.
