The United States Geological Survey worked with the University of Texas Marine Science Institute and the Coastal Bend Bays & Estuaries Program to conduct a search and recovery of a Common Loon that had been reported by satellite transmission as not moving for over a week. The bird was found and the data tags recovered that will help researchers understand more about the migration and feeding patterns of the bird in an overall effort to protect this magnificent species.
