Abstract

This study attempts to determine how qualified Black American applicants in search of full-time employment for faculty positions in community colleges can increase their chances gaining employment, resulting in the improvement of the statistically low numbers of fulltime Black faculty in community colleges. Using approximately ten documented narrative interviews from Black full-time faculty employed at both Cy-Fair and Montgomery Colleges will be the focus of obtaining information necessary to evaluate and asses the problem areas for Black faculty hiring. The results of this study will serve as a guide in the faculty hiring process for community colleges dedicated toward the achievement of diversity benefiting the growing multicultural student population.
