Description
This article, with a sarcastic title (“Now it seems that Abra Pampa is almost an environmental eden”), talks about a meeting in which Carlos Ripoll, director of Provincial Sanitary Programs, downplays the environmental devastation due to the industrial waste. He reports on the progress of testing for lead poisoning. Ripoll also announces that specialist physicians would visit Abra Pampa and other communities in the area at least once or twice per month. Miguel Thomann, Director of Environmental Policy states at the meeting that the Argentine Geologic Mining Service (SEGEMAR) had reported that the air in Abra Pampa does not have airborne lead contamination.
