Abstract
This thesis is an exploratory study of two outdoor education programs from across the United States which looks at the underpinning educational philosophies of these programs as well as the manner in which a suitable curriculum is developed in order to meet these philosophies. A comparison of the programs and a discussion of their benefits to accompanying standard educational practices along with a discussion of the possible implications of state and national standards on informal education such as outdoor education is covered with this thesis
