This dissertation deals with certain developments which have occurred in the Texas public school system during the five-year period from 1934-35 to 1938-39. The primary purpose of this study is to show the developments relating to current expenditures, the total number of scholastics, white and colored scholastics, the average daily attendance of all pupils, of white and colored pupils, the total number of teaching positions, the average annual salaries of all teachers, and of white and colored teachers, that took place in the Texas public school system from 1934-35 to 1938-39. Another purpose is to determine the foregoing types of trends separately for the independent and common school districts during the above mentioned period of time
