Item Determining strength parameters of oil well cement(2007-05) Pedam, Sandeep Kumar; Gray, Kenneth E., Ph.D.The purpose of this thesis is to describe the commonly used methods for determining the strength parameters of oil well cement and correlations between static measurements and acoustic measurements. Several static and dynamic tests are compared to determine cement physical properties such as compressive strength, modulus of elasticity and static, dynamic and shear wave velocities. The dynamic behavior of class A cement slurry was tested using a Mechanical Properties Analyzer (MPro, Chandler Engineering) and the compressive strength was determined using measured compressional wave velocities and embedded correlations. Tests have been initiated using a load frame test apparatus to perform static tests on slurry recipes utilized in the MPro testing program. Future work will be carried out to test various MPro recipes using the load frame apparatus.
