Item Experimental Determination of Optimum Parameters for Stainless Steel 316L Annealed Ultrasonic Consolidation(University of Texas at Austin, 2009-09) Gonzalez, R.; Stucker, B.Ultrasonic consolidation is being investigated for building Stainless Steel structures. In this study, parameter optimization for ultrasonic consolidation of Stainless Steel 316L annealed is assessed by evaluating experimental factors of oscillation amplitude, welding speed, normal force and temperature. An L-16 Taguchi design was used to establish the statistical significance of these factors and identify the combination of processing parameters that maximizes linear welding density. Optical microscopy was performed to investigate bond quality.
