Item To Blåkulla they Flew: An Analysis of the Child's Sabbath Narrative during the Swedish Witch Hunts(2018) Bott, Rachel; Straubhaar, Sandra B.An analysis of the children's construction of the witches' sabbath narrative during the witch hunts in Sweden from 1668-1676, through the lens of popular culture and folk-belief. Children testified in Swedish courts against witches, claiming they were abducted and taken to a far away place called Blåkulla, where they were forced to participate in the witches' sabbath. This study seeks to analyze in detail these children's constructions of the sabbath narrative, and how the motifs therein overlap with popular culture and folk belief.
