By week’s end University enrollment will total 17,500. The first wave of war babies and increased housing facilities for women are expected to boost student population a thousand over last spring. W. Byron Shipp, registrar, said this fall’s increase Is the first in such a series. War babies will push enrollment to 20,000-plus by 1960, he predicted. Students should fill out all materials In their registration packet before reporting to the Gym at their assigned time. They must also have their schedule approved by their advisor prior to registration. Those who failed to receive packets by mail should report, to the Registrar to receive registration materials. ★ At the asvsignod time, the student will be admitted to the Gym and must sign a loyal ty oath. He will then be directed to a sec- tionizer for a check on the desired times In his preferred schedule. Course cards are then obtained from rep resentatives of each department. Finally, the student pays his fees and can leave the Gym. Each student must turn in his vehicle reg istration card after he registers, whether or not he has a car at the University. Students entering the University for the first time must also turn In health slips from the Health Center and have acceptance no tices. Former students should bring their photostat of their classwork record. Tuition for state residents is $50, raised See REGISTRATION, Page 14 What's the Holdup? It m akes the Texan the real voice of those who care to speak. To whom or to w hat is the Texan re sponsible? First of all to The U niversity of Texas and its purpose: the search for tru th and the dissemination of knowledge. The T e x an s devotion to the U niversity’s purpose is far and above th at of personal interests.
